This meeting aims to provide an open forum to discuss the state and evolution of professional communicating and in particular publishing in Astronomy. The main audience consists of editors, publishers, librarians, archives managers, officers of learned societies, as well as scientists involved in professional communication and publishing as well as in evaluation processes.

The program will focus on the following areas:

  • Publishing: state of the art and trends
  • The role of learned societies
  • Bibliometric and other evaluation criteria
  • Communicating Astronomy with the public and other bodies
  • The future of Librarianship

The Colloquium is organized and chaired by Prof. Andre Heck and Dr. Alberto Accomazzi and is a follow-up to the one held in Brussels on June 10-13 2007.

Following the Second Colloquium on Future Professional Communications in Astronomy, the fourth Summit of Information Providers in Astronomy, Astrophysics and High Energy Physics  will take place.  The Summit will be attended by representatives from the ADS and INSPIRE projects, their main collaborators, and leading publishers in the field.
